A development program with a billion pound investment has been announced for Gatwick Airport to deliver new and modern facilities over the next two years said the airport’s owners Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP).

Also in use simultaneously will be a new multi-million pound extension to the airport’s North Terminal.
The next two years improvements made to almost every part of the airport will show due to the £1 billion investment.
The departure lounge, entrance forecourts, immigration hall and baggage systems at the South Terminal have been earmarked for work.
Improvement will be done to the North Terminal Interchange too.
GIP, the US-based investment fund acquired Gatwick as an independent airport from BAA last December for more than £1.5 billion. The announced investment is to improve quality of service and provide world-class facilities to attract both passengers and airlines.
Building of a second runway before 2019 has been ruled out in accordance to the legal agreement made between West Sussex County Council and previous airport owner BAA.
Gatwick serves more than 200 destinations in 90 countries for around 33 million passengers and is UK’s second largest airport and the busiest single-runway airport in the world.
The airport offers a wide choice of long and short stay parking options with over 30,000 parking spaces in secure car parks featuring fencing around the parking borders, arrangement of 24 hour cameras, and frequent patrolling.
